Teaching

I find teaching to be highly enjoyable and rewarding. I have experience being a lead instructor for several classes and being an assistant for others. I have taught in person as well as synchronous and asynchronous online. I plan for teaching to be a part of my life in some form, whether I am an instructor at a university or provide personal finance courses at the local community center.

Course Feedback

"Ms. Carlston was invested in the success of her students. She actually cared about our success and displayed great effort in helping us understand the concepts. Also, I appreciated her aversion of politics. No political side is correct–– everyone makes mistakes, and I think that many forget that 'their side,' whatever that may be, isn't perfect. Ms. Carlston demonstrated that it's possible to talk extensively about a particularly politicized concept without condemning anyone."

-Health Economics, Spring 2021

"Thank you for the incredible course. I feel like I learned so much and refined my own opinions, which happened in very few of my previous classes, at least to this extent. I felt like my opinions weren't condemned when I expressed opinions not held by the majority of the class, and I commend you for promoting such an inclusive environment."

-Health Economics, Spring 2021

"She did a fantastic job and was one of the most organized and diverse instructors that I have ever had as far as course content."

-Health Economics, Spring 2021

"I absolutely love everything we're talking about. I'm learning a ton and the information is so interesting. I didn't think I would like this class as much as I am."

-Health Economics, Summer 2021

"Kelsey definitely wants to see her students succeed. I appreciated feeling like she was in my corner, especially on a subject that I have struggled with in the past."

-Probability and Statistics, Summer 2019
